4Tc <br /> ' North 0 msted Arts Commission <br /> Advancing Arts and Culture In Our Community <br /> • North Olmsted Arts Commission <br /> Meeting Minutes of Tuesday,September 17,2024 <br /> 6:30 p.m.Small Meeting Room,North Olmsted Public Library <br /> 27403 Lorain Road,North Olmsted <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:32 p.m. by Chairman Frank Boulton. <br /> Present: Frank Boulton, Keith Behrendt,Bryan O'Malley, Mark Mallett, Lori Kershner,Susan Begin, <br /> Becky Tesar, Nahid Parsipour. <br /> Absent:Tahani Mousa,Jacob Campbell, Rick Haase (personal illness). <br /> Chairman Boulton presented his monthly activity report to the group. <br /> Saturday, October 5,2024 will be the final date for the Commisssion to receive tiles for the Community <br /> Art project wooden quilt. <br /> Free Holiday Concert—The date of Sunday, December 15,2024 is being held by Erin Warner at <br /> Springvale Ballroom for a possible holiday concert,sponsored by the North Olmsted Arts Commission. <br /> Date to be verified with Jacob Campbell,conductor of Symphony West.Chairman Boulton will liaison <br /> with Erin Warner,the North Olmsted Senior Center and several area Senior Living Facilities,once <br /> Symphony West is confirmed. <br /> Halloween Home Decorating Contest—Becky Tesar presented flyers and a Google Registration form to <br /> the Commission for the contest,which will have a deadline for entries of 11 p.m. October 22,2024. <br /> Judging will be done by Commission members between October 24 and 28,2024. <br /> Wood Memorial Mural—Becky Tesar said that she has confirmed that Sherwin Williams North Olmsted <br /> will donate paint for the memorial mural in memory of Julian Wood. The Purdy brand team will provide <br /> any of the applicators, brushes, rollers,frames,trays,etc.to complete the project. <br /> The current North Olmsted City sign code does not contemplate a mural on a building,according to <br /> Legal Counsel and North Olmsted Assistant Law Director Bryan O'Malley. Mr. O'Malley stated that the <br /> North Olmsted Arts Commission can give its tacit approval to the project, if the mural fits an exemption <br /> of the current City sign code,as determined by both the Director of Economic and Community <br /> Development and members of the BZBA,which next is slated to meet on Monday,October 7. <br /> It was stated that the preference of muralist Arlin Graff and the building owner, Mr.Terry Rooney, is to <br /> paint the mural directly on the surface of the building(The Rooney Cleaning Company). <br />
