CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005 — 43 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC <br />SERVICE TO ADVERTISE FORBIDS TO PROVIDE DESIGN -BUILD <br />SERVICES FOR RENOVATION OF THE MAIN ENTRANCE AT THE <br />NORTH OLMSTED MULTI - PURPOSE SENIOR CENTER AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, given the success and popularity of the Multi - purpose Senior Center, <br />particularly the hot lunch program operated in conjunction with Title III -C grant funding (Title <br />III of the 1965 Older Americans Act, 42 USC 35), grants monies have been received and funds <br />appropriated from this and other sources for the proposed renovating of the main doorway <br />entrance to the Senior Center, which renovation will increase accessibility through automatic <br />doors and comply with the ADA (American with Disabilities Act, 42 USC 12101); and <br />WHEREAS, preliminary cost estimates for the said renovation project for the Senior <br />Center Main Entrance, the scope of work of which includes the ADA complaint doorway <br />systems, were initially forecasted to be less than $25,000.00, the maximum amount for which <br />competitive bidding is not mandated under the City Charter, but have since, after informal <br />inquiry to prospective contractors, increased so that it is now anticipated that the project cost will <br />be in excess of $25,000; and <br />WHEREAS, accordingly, plans and specifications have been prepared for competitive <br />bidding of the project in accordance with City Charter and ordinance requirements, and are now <br />on file in the Office of the City Engineer; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, based upon the recommendations of the <br />Director of Human Resources, to authorize the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids to <br />provide design -build services for renovation of the Main Entrance of the North Olmsted Multi- <br />purpose Senior Center; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service be and he hereby is authorized to <br />advertise for bids and to receive proposals for the renovation of the Main Entrance at the North <br />Olmsted Multi- purpose Senior Center located at 28114 Lorain Road consistent with the plans <br />and specifications on file in the Office of the City Engineer. <br />
