' ;r�e�r�a�t z sad ,. .�:.n.��ua. -5m wl�a'�,:�� �. �::� 1.�. ,., ..:.. _ .. .... _ <br />t <br />v, <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005 — 37 <br />BY: Council Member Gareau <br />A RESOL UTION A CCEPTING A FAIR HOUSING CAPACITY <br />BUILDING GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING <br />AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ( "HUD'), AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH <br />HUD PROVIDING FOR THE RECEIPT AND EXPENDITURE OF <br />FUNDS FROM SAID GRANT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City first adopted a local Fair Housing Code on September 17, <br />1996 (Ordinance No. 1996 -154); and <br />WHEREAS, thereafter, following HUD review and comment upon the City's Fair <br />Housing Code, this Council amended and revised the City's Fair Housing Code on Sept <br />2, 1998 (Ordinance No 1998 -85), resulting in a determination by HUD that the City's <br />Fair Housing ordinance had now achieved "substantial equivalency" with federal law <br />requirements; and <br />WHEREAS, in the year 2004, the North Olmsted Fair Housing Review Board <br />initiated discussions with HUD officials for implementation of a local fair housing <br />program with federal funding assistance; and <br />WHEREAS, as a result of this board initiative, HUD offered to the City an <br />interim referral agreement for execution, and the City, with this Council's authorization <br />(Resolution No. 2004 -123), executed an interim referral agreement with HUD in <br />December 2004, providing for HUD to refer to the Administrator of the City's Fair <br />Housing Review Board fair housing complaints arising within the City of North Olmsted; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, following execution of the said Interim Referral Agreement, HUD <br />officials have procured and offered to the City of North Olmsted a Fair Housing Capacity <br />Building Grant for the City of North Olmsted in the amount of One Hundred Twenty <br />Thousand Dollars ($120,000.00), with the possibility of two additional one -year renewals <br />of said grant in the same amount, to assist the City in establishing its local fair housing <br />program; and <br />
