Ordinance No. 2005 -27 <br />SECTION 2. If the foregoing proposal receives the affirmative vote of a majority of the <br />electors voting thereon, then the said amendment to Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Article IV, and to <br />Sections 2 and 4 of Article IX, of the Charter shall be effective on January 1, 2008 [* *January <br />1, 2010 * *]. <br />SECTION 3. It is the desire of the Council that the ballot for said question shall be in <br />substantially the following form: <br />PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT <br />A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage. <br />Shall Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Article IV, and Sections 2 and 4 of <br />Article IX, of the City Charter be amended so as to provide for the <br />President of Council to be a member of Council appointed by a <br />majority of the members of Council, rather than a separately elected <br />office, and for the President of Council to continue to serve as <br />Mayor in the absence of the Mayor and in the event of a vacancy <br />in the office of the Mayor. <br />Yes <br />No <br />SECTION 4. The Clerk of Council is authorized and directed to deliver a certified copy of <br />this Ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County no sooner than July 11, 2005, and no <br />later than September 9, 2005. <br />SECTIONS. This Council requests that the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County cause to <br />be duly given an appropriate notice of the special election to be held on November 8, 2005, on the <br />foregoing amendment to the Charter of this City and otherwise provide for such election in the <br />manner provided by the general laws of the State of Ohio. <br />4 <br />
