Ordinance No. 2005 -27 <br />SEC. 3. PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL. <br />(a) The President of Council shall be <br />shall file s °,.;ft, ally r^r the e ffie° in aeeer-daneewith th of the rh.,A °.. a member <br />of Council selected by the members of Council. <br />(b) Duties. The President of Council shall preside at all regular and special meetings <br />of Council,' but he shall have no ote therein ° pt in the event of a tie . He shall perform such <br />duties as presiding officer as may be imposed upon him by Council. <br />(c) Acting Maw In the absence of the Mayor, the President of Council shall act as <br />Mayor as provided in Article III of this Charter. <br />ARTICLE IX <br />NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS <br />SEC. 2. NOMINATIONS. <br />Each petition for the nomination of a candidate for the office of Mayor, P,.°s;deat 4 <br />mil, Director of Finance, Director of Law, and Council -at -Large shall be signed by not fewer <br />than one hundred (100) electors of the Municipality. Each petition for the nomination of a <br />candidate for an office designating the election by ward shall be signed by not fewer than twenty - <br />five (25) electors from the designated ward. (Amended 11 -6 -01) <br />SEC. 4. DESIGNATION OF CANDIDATES. <br />The number of candidates for the office of Mayor, President of Counra', Director of <br />Finance, Director of Law, and Council -by -Ward at any regular municipal election in the City <br />shall be the two (2) candidates on the primary election ballot receiving the highest number of <br />votes at the primary election. The number of candidates for the office of Council -at -Large at any <br />regular municipal election in the City shall be the six (6) candidates on the primary election <br />ballot receiving the highest number of votes at the primary election. <br />In case there shall not be more than two (2) persons who shall have filed petitions for the <br />office of Mayor, President of C,., nei , Director of Finance, Director of Law, and Council -by- <br />Ward, as provided for in this Charter, then said persons shall be the candidates at the regular <br />municipal election and the primary election for the office not exceeding two (2) persons shall not <br />be held. In case there shall not be more than six (6) persons who shall have filed petitions for the <br />office of Council -at -Large as provided for in the Charter, said persons shall be the candidates at <br />the regular municipal election and the primary election for Council -at -Large shall not be held. <br />Anyone who has not properly filed a petition for the appropriate primary election as <br />provided for in this Charter, shall be ineligible as a designated candidate in the regular municipal <br />election." <br />
