CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004 - 180 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES TO SOLICIT <br />PROPOSALS FOR THE PERSONAL SERVICES OF A THIRD <br />PARTY ADMINISTRATOR (TPA) TO PROCESS HEALTH <br />INSURANCE CLAIMS AND INCLUDING THE PURCHASE OF <br />EXCESS INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE CITYHEALTH CARE <br />& HOSPITALIZATION PLANS FOR 2005, AND FURTHER <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE <br />BOARD OF CONTROL, TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT FOR SAID <br />TPA AND UMBRELLA INSURANCE POLICY WITH THE LOWEST <br />AND BEST BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, the specifications for Requests for Proposals for a personal services <br />contract with a Third Party Administrator (TPA) of the City's Health Care <br />Coverage/Hospitalization Plans, including excess or umbrella coverage related thereto, <br />are on file in the office of the Director of Personnel and Administrative Services; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Personnel <br />and Administrative Services to solicit proposals for said personal services contract and <br />purchase of ancillary or umbrella health insurance policy, and to further authorize the <br />Mayor, upon approval of the Board of Control, to enter into an agreement or agreements <br />with a TPA for claims service and for the purchase of said insurance policy with the <br />lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Personnel and Administrative Services be <br />and she is hereby authorized to solicit or request proposals for a personal services <br />contract between the City of North Olmsted and a qualified Third Party Administrator <br />(TPA) to process claims far and otherwise manage the City's comprehensive municipal <br />health care/hospitalization insurance plans, including the purchase of ancillary health <br />insurance umbrella policy, in accordance with the specifications now on file in her office <br />and that, upon approval by the Board of Control, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to <br />enter into an agreement or agreements with the lowest and best bidder for said TPA and <br />insurance coverage policy.
