Such bonus days must be taken within one <br />year of accruai, Up to one absence per year for attending a funera( as provided in Article 33 <br />may be used without affecting eligibility for bonus days. <br />Effective July 1, 2004, if an employee does not use sick leave time for any calendar <br />quarter (i.e., Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, or Oct-Dec), he shall receive eight (8) hours off or <br />at his option the cash equivalent of eight (8) hours, for each such calendar quarter. In <br />addition, if an employee does not use sick leave time for any calendar half (i.e., Jan-Jun, <br />or Jul-Dec), he shall receive an additional eight (8) hours off or at his option the cash <br />equivalent of eight (8) haurs, for each such ca(endar haif. (This provision shall be <br />construed so that employees may receive no more than a maximum of forty-eight (48) <br />hours each calendar year.) Such bonus days may be fiaken at a time mutually agreeable <br />to the City and the employee. Such bonus days must be taken within one year of accrual. <br />Up to one absence per year for attending a funeral as provided in Article 33 may be used <br />without affecting eligibility for bonus days. <br />In order to transition fram the pre-July 1, 2004 perfect attendance pragram to the <br />effective July 1, 2004 perfect attendance program, employees who, on June 30, 2004 were in <br />the process of earning a perfect afitendance bonus under the pre-July 1, 2004, program, shall <br />receive a pro-rated bonus under the first paragraph of this section, calculated on months of <br />perfect attendance between January 1, 2004 and June 30, 2004, rounded down to the nearest <br />month, e.g,, four and one-half (4 '/2) months as af June 30, 2004 equafs four (4) months of <br />bonus earned. <br />Sectian 4.
