Effective July 1, 2001, employees will be placed in the <br />appropriate step according to completed years of service. <br />To advance to the Secretary I pay scale, an Employee is required to demonstrate <br />skills at a composite score of at least eighty (80) percent. The assessment will be <br />offered during the Spring and Fall of each year to any employee who so requests. <br />Current Employees may take assessment tests no more than twice per calendar year. <br />Employees in this classification, who have taken the assessment and demonstrated the <br />requisite skills set forth above, shall progress to the Secretary I wage rate step - zero (0) <br />years of service. Such empfoyees shafi thereafter progress to the next Secretary ! wage <br />rate step, i.e., one (1) year of service, on their nexf anniversary date of empioyment with <br />the City, providetl that such date occurs at least six (6) months following the date upon <br />which the employee qualifies by assessment to progress to the Secretary I wage rate <br />step - zaro (0) years of service, In the event that the employee's anniversary date occurs <br />less than six (6) months following that date, then he or she shall not progress to the <br />Secretary I wage rate step - one (1) year of service, until his or her next anniversary date. <br />Subsequently, such employee shall, on each successive anniversary date, progress to <br />the next Secretary ! wage rate step, provided, however, that no such employee while in <br />such classification shall be entitled to progress to the highest Secretary I wage rate step. <br />An employee must qua(ify at eighty (80%) percent competency only once in order to <br />qualify for advancement to the Secretary I posifion, <br />Upon qualification, the Employee's new pay rate will be enacted at the beginning of <br />the next full pay period. <br />A copy of all test scores shalf be submitted to the Chapter chairperson. <br />An Employee who successfully passes an assessment test from Secretary II to <br />Secretary I and has in excess of five (5) years employment within the Secretary fl <br />classification, shall be credited one additional step in the new Secretary I classification, <br />Appendix A - 5 <br />45
