ARTICLE I- PURPOSE <br />Section 1. This Agreement is made between the City of North 0lmsted, hereinafter <br />referred to as the "City", and Ohio Cauncil 8 and Local No. 2681 of the American Federation of <br />State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO, hereinafter referred to as the "Union". The <br />purpose of this Agreement is to provide a fair and responsible method of enabling employees <br />cavered by the Contract to participate through Union representation in the establishment of <br />terms and conditions and of their employment, including rates of pay, wages, hours and <br />working conditions, and to establish a peaceful procedure for the resolution of all differences <br />between the parties. <br />ARTICLE 2- RECOGNITION <br />Section 1. The Union is recognized as the sole and exclusive representative for a <br />bargaining unit of all clerical and technical employees of the City of North Olmsfied in the <br />classifications contained in Appendix A, with respect to wages, hours and other terms and <br />conditions of employment, but excluding all confidential employees, all members of the police <br />and fire departments, management level employees and supervisors as defined in the Act, and <br />all employees currently represented by an employee organization. <br />ARTICLE 3 - NON-DISCRIMINATION <br />Section 1, Both the City and the Union recognize their respective responsibilities under <br />the federal and state civil rights law, fair employment practice acts and other similar <br />constitutional and statutory requirements. Therefore, both, the City and the Union hereby <br />reaffirm their commitments, legal and moral, not to discriminate in any manner relating to <br />employment on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, handicap or any other <br />invidious reason. <br />Section 2. The City recognizes the right of all employees and ali appficants for <br />employment to be free to join the Union and participate in lawful, concerted union activities. <br />1
