JOB DESCRlPTlON: <br />POSITION T1TLE: BUILDING INSPECTOR <br />RESPONSIBLE T0: BUILDING COMMISSIONER <br />DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: <br />1, Make field inspect16ns to tletermine that construction and alteration work being done compfies with the City <br />Building Code and Zoning Ordinances. <br />2. Checks the quality of materials and methods of construction. <br />3. Consults with Builders and others regarding compliance with-the Building laws. <br />4. Works independently, making own final decisions. <br />5. Work is subject to periotlic check. <br />6. Reviews plans filed with applications for compliance with the City Zoning Law and Building Code. <br />7. Inspects a!l construction, tlemolition, and repair of buildings in the City for safety from fire and collapse and <br />for confirmation to height and area requirements. <br />8. Ghecks buildings during construction for size and depth of footings, size and type of materials used for <br />walls, sills, beams, joists, bracing, flooring, roofing, lathing and plastering. <br />9. Inspects soil for its suitability for foundations. <br />10. lssues stop work orders when necessary. <br />11. Gives information to builders and others regarding requirements of the law. <br />12. Makes final inspections of completetl buildings giving occupancy approval for City. <br />13. Inspects fences, signs, and concrete work, for compliance with the zoning and building laws. <br />14. Makes written reports concerning inspections made. <br />15. Performs other retated work, inclutling real property mainfenance code duties, as assigned. <br />79
