<br />Resolution No. 2004-152 <br />SECTION 1: That this Council of the City of North Olmsted opposes the proposal of the <br />Crreater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority ("GCRTA") to eliminate the Number 53 Crreat <br />Northern - Center Ridge bus raute in that it will result in a diminution in services to the public, <br />particular to passengers desiring to travel between the Westgate Transit Center and the Great <br />Northern shopping center, in North Olmsted, Ohio, and even more particularly to the elderly and <br />other transit dependent individuals in the cities of Fairview Park and North Olmsted, and further <br />urges GCRTA, upon reconsideration, to follow the recommendation of the study it <br />commissioned in 1997 and convert the Number 53 bus route instead to a Community Circulator <br />route, and expand the route to include additional services on Dover Center Road, Center Ridge <br />Road, and Crocker Road to the Westlake Promenade. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and hereby is, directed to forward a fully <br />attested copy of this Resolution to Fairview Park Mayor Eileen Patton, Westlake Mayor Dennis <br />Clough, and Joseph Calabrese, General Manager of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit <br />Authority, urging all of them to become involved and take action to oppose elimination of the <br />Number 53 Great Northern - Center Ridge bus route, because of the adverse impact it will have <br />upon the public, and particularly upon the elderly and other transit dependent persons in the <br />Cities of Fairview Park and North Olmsted, Ohio. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately so that the contents of <br />this Resolution may be timely communicated to various officials before RTA acts upon its <br />pending proposal to eliminate the Number 53 bus route, and further provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: L First Reading: ? <br />Second Reading: /0 /s C? y <br />Third Reading: ?-e--?--?-G-??-- <br />? <br />Committee: -- IxZ?,? lclt <br />ATTEST.• <br />BARBARA L.
