CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RE50LUTION NO. 2004 -149 <br />BY: Mayor Musial <br />A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE APPLICATION OF THE <br />ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED FOR A FEDERAL EMERGENCY <br />MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA) GRANT IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF $348,270.00 FOR COMPUTER AND DISPATCH <br />EQUIPMENT, AND MOBILE RADIO EQUIPMENT, FOR THE <br />NORTH OLMSTED FIRE DEPARTMENT, ACCEPTING THE <br />SAID FEMA GRANT SUBSEQUENTLY AWARDED TO THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />ENTER I1VT0 AN AGREEMENT AND/OR EXECUTE ANY <br />OTHER DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY FEMA TO EFFECTUATE <br />RECEIPT OF THE GRANT, FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXPENDITURE OF MATCHING FUNDS BY THE CITY, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, on March 30, 2004, the City's Assistant Fire Chief, without obtaining <br />prior legislative authorization, made application for a Federal Emergency Management Agency <br />("FEMA") grant in the amount of $348,270 for computer and dispatch equipment, and mobile <br />radio equipment, for the North Olmsted Fire Department, which included a representation that <br />the City of North Olmsted would provide matching funds in the amount of $34,827.00; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council has been advised by the Mayor and the Director of Public <br />Safety that the FEMA grant applied for by the Assistant Fire Chief has been awarded to the <br />City of North Olmsted, conditioned upon North Olmsted providing matching funds in the <br />amount of $34,827.00; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to ratify the actions taken by the Assistant <br />Fire Chief as authorized actions of the City of North Olmsted, to accept the FEMA gant <br />awarded, to authorize the Mayor to enter into an ageement and/or execute any other <br />documents required by FEMA to effectuate receipt of the grant, and to further authorize the <br />expenditure of matching funds by the City; <br />NOW, 7'HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLTjED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the actions of the Assistant Fire Chief of the City of North <br />Olmsted, making application for a Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA") grant <br />in the amount of $348,270 for computer and dispatch equipment, and mobile radio equipment, <br />for the North Olmsted Fire Department, and representing that the City of North Olmsted <br />would provide matching funds in the amount of $34,827.00, aze hereby ratified and approved <br />as authorized actions of the City of North Olmsted. <br />
