<br />presented to the immediate supervisor by his steward, in the presence of the employee, or, in <br />the case of the Wastewafier Plant, the superintendent, within seven (7) working days after the <br />employee learned or should have learned af the event upon which the grievance is based. The <br />immediate supervisor or superintendent shall meet with fhe employee or the employee and the <br />steward within seven (7) working days. The supervisor or superintendent shall give an answer <br />in writing to the participants involved in the initial meeting within seven (7) working days <br />following the date of the grievance discussion. The affected employee shall be required to <br />attend the aforementioned meeting. <br />Step 2: If the employee's grievance is not satisfactorily settled at Step 1, the grievance shall <br />be submitted ta the Service Director within seven (7) working days after the Step 1 answer. <br />The Service Director and/or his designee or representatives shall meefi with the Local Union <br />President the Steward and the Chief Steward or his designee wifhin seven (7) working days <br />after the grievance has been filed with the Service Director, and the City's representative shall <br />answer fihe grievance in writing within seven (7) working days following completion of the Step <br />2 discussions. The affected employee shall be required to attend the aforementioned meeting. <br />Step 3: The Union may appeal the grievance to the Mayor or his designated representative by <br />giving him notice in writing within seven (7) working days folfowing receipt of the Step 2 <br />answer. The Mayor or his designee, shall meet at a mutually agreed.satisfactory time with the <br />Local Union Grievance committee to consider the grievance within seven (7) working days <br />following receipt of the appeal. A representative of Ohio Council 8 may participate in any such <br />meeting. The Mayor or his designee will answer the grievance in wrifing within seven (7) <br />working days following completion of the Step 3 discussions. The affected employee shall be <br />required to attend the aforementioned meeting. All Step 2 or 3 meetings under the grievance procedure shall be scheduled during the last <br />forty-five (45) minutes of the work day unless otherwise mutually agreed to by the parties. <br />Step 4: If the grievance is not satisfactorily settled at Step 3, the Union may, within (30) <br />calendar days after receipt of the Step 3 answer submit the mafter to arbitration.
