EXHIBIT B-9 JOB CLASSIFICATION MAINTENANCE HELPER RESPONSIBLE TO MAINTENANCE FOREMAN CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES OF THE CLASSIFICATION: This is a semi-skilled and limited skilled work in constructian, repair and grounds at the rnunicipal wasfiewater pumping stations and treatment plant. Work involves responsibility for assisting in the maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery and related appurtenances at the wastewater pumping stations and treatment plant; other duties include acting as a re(ief operator and performing building maintenance and custodial duties when required. Usually maintenance work is performed under the immediate supervision of an employee of a higher classification. Assignments are determined by breakdowns of machinery and equipment; however, routine work is performed with little or direct supervisian. Technical assistance is readily available for help in unusual or difficult problems. Work is viewed through inspections and by observations of results. EXAMPLES OF WORK: • Loads and unloads heavy materials from truck; moves and assists in moving heavy machinery and equipment. • Performs general building and grounds maintenance and custodial tasks including painting; shoveling snaw and repairing windows when required. • Assists in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment; such as, pumps, chforinators, and chemical feeders; installs and replaces new gauges and pressure switches on panels when necessary. • Operates electric pumping station in emergencies; inspects pumping stations as required for proper operation when required. • Assists operatars and mechanics in the operation and repair of pumping stations and treatment. • Maybe assigned to operate pumping station or treatment plant on assigned shift for relief or emergency situations. • Occasionally operates light automotive equipment, such as trucks, front end loaders, and tractars. • Subject to 24- hour call during emergency situations. 59
