EXHIBIT B-9 <br />JOB CLASSIFICATION MAINTENANCE HELPER <br />RESPONSIBLE TO MAINTENANCE FOREMAN <br />CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES OF THE CLASSIFICATION: <br />This is a semi-skilled and limited skilled work in constructian, repair and grounds at the rnunicipal <br />wasfiewater pumping stations and treatment plant. <br />Work involves responsibility for assisting in the maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery <br />and related appurtenances at the wastewater pumping stations and treatment plant; other duties include <br />acting as a re(ief operator and performing building maintenance and custodial duties when required. Usually <br />maintenance work is performed under the immediate supervision of an employee of a higher classification. <br />Assignments are determined by breakdowns of machinery and equipment; however, routine work is <br />performed with little or direct supervisian. Technical assistance is readily available for help in unusual or <br />difficult problems. Work is viewed through inspections and by observations of results. <br />EXAMPLES OF WORK: <br />• Loads and unloads heavy materials from truck; moves and assists in moving heavy machinery and <br />equipment. <br />• Performs general building and grounds maintenance and custodial tasks including painting; shoveling <br />snaw and repairing windows when required. <br />• Assists in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery and equipment; such as, pumps, chforinators, <br />and chemical feeders; installs and replaces new gauges and pressure switches on panels when <br />necessary. <br />• Operates electric pumping station in emergencies; inspects pumping stations as required for proper <br />operation when required. <br />• Assists operatars and mechanics in the operation and repair of pumping stations and treatment. <br />• Maybe assigned to operate pumping station or treatment plant on assigned shift for relief or emergency <br />situations. <br />• Occasionally operates light automotive equipment, such as trucks, front end loaders, and tractars. <br />• Subject to 24- hour call during emergency situations. <br />59
