EXHIBIT B-12 CONTINUED LABORATORY TECHNICIAN • Conducts investigations and sampling programs of industrial waste problems and wastewater flows which are of interest to the municipal water pollution contro{ program, as autlined by the Superintendent. • Performs unusual or difficult tests by setting up, taking down, and cleaning chemical and bacteriological apparatus; makes special analysis as assigned by superiors. . • Subject to 24- hour call during emergency situations. ? Performs all necessary analysis for wastewater plant performance. Analyzed data is made available on a programmed schedule for optimum plant pertormance, as directed by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent -Plant Operations. All data must be tabufated immediately and kept current at all times, DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE. ABILITIES AND SKILLS: • Considerable knowledge of the elementary principles, practices and techniques of chemistry and bacteriology. • Considerable knowledge of modern accepted laboratory techniques and methodology. • Considerable knowledge af the operafing characteristics, adaptability's, and rnaintenance requirements of basic modem chemical and bacteriological laboratory apparatus. • Ability to follow oral and written instructions exactly, and to prepare roufine reports on the results of laboratory tests performed. • Skilled in laboratory manipulative techniques. • Eyesight sufficiently strong to permit extended microscopic work, normal color perception and keen sense of smelL DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Some experience in the performance of standard laboratory tests in a chemical or bacteriological laboratory; graduation from a standard high school, supplemented by the completion of approved course work in laboratory techniques or related training on a college level. 67
