B -16 CONTINUED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: • This position requires considerable experience in perForming construction, maintenance and laboring tasks; graduation from a standard high schoal or vocational school is a prerequisite of the classification. • Considerable knowledge of tools, materials„ methods and modern techniques commonly used in public works and utility construction and maintenance activities. • Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions necessary in construction and maintenance work. • Ability to participate in the work of maintenance and performing varied tasks and to obtain effective results. • Abilifiy to establish and maintain effective working relafionships with employees and the general public. • Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous manual labor for extended periods under varying weather conditions. • Some experience in the operation and maintenance of inechanical and electrical equipment; graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, preferably supplemented by the completion of approved course work in wastewater treatment. Ability to obtain a Class 1 Operators Certification as issued by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. • Some knowledge of the specific operations and service requirements of the major items of pump and treatment plant. • Some knowledge of the fundamental processes involved in the pumping, treatment, and disposal of wastewater. • Ability to inspect operating mechanical and electrical equipment; to detect minor flaws and defects in its operation; and to effect appropriate remedial measures when necessary. • Ability to read meters and charts accurately and to maintain routine records of shift operations. • Abifity to understand and follow oral and written instructions. • Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and accuracy. 75
