<br />EXHIBtT B-16 <br />JOB CLASSiFICATION <br />OPERATIONS LABORER <br />RESPONSIBLE TO SUPERI.NTENDENT <br />W.W.T.P. <br />NATURE OF WORK: <br />This is manual labar in the pertormance of semi-skilled and limified skilled wark of a physical nature. The <br />work involves performing manual labor of a semi-skilled nature, which requires limited special previaus <br />training or experience. Although the work is usually pertormed under the.immediate direction of an <br />employee or a higher rank, and instructions are received at the beginning of each new job, constant <br />supervision is not always available for routine repetitive tasks which can be carried out without difficulty <br />once (earned. Upon receiving work instructions, the employee shall perform the job task with very limited <br />direcfiion and supervision. <br />This is routine, skilled and semi-skilled work, assisting in shift operations of the Wastewater treatment plant, <br />pumping equipment and faci(ifies at the municipal wastewater treatment plant and pumping stations. <br />Work involves responsibility for routine and emergency, operation, servicing, and cleaning buildings and <br />grounds, as well as a variety or specialized equipment and apparatus in a pumping station and wastewater <br />treatment plant. Duties include the aperation of pumps, motors and the reading and recording of appropriate <br />meters and gauges at regularly scheduled intervals, on and around pump stations and the treatment planfi. <br />Incumbents are required to become thoroughly trained on assigned equipment under normal and <br />emergency situations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent - <br />Plant Operations, and is reviewed through inspection of plant records, equipment and facilities; and <br />observation and tests of plant efficiencies and effectiveness. <br />Removes scum from primary tanks, draws sludge and pumps into sludge holding tanks; wash down tanks; <br />perform laboratory tesfis as directed; maintains monitoring wafich over operation during shift and assists in <br />the maintenance of shift operation reports. <br />Assists other operators and maintenance personnel in switching pumps, transferring sludge; charging <br />chemicaf hoppers and mixing chambers; cleaning and maintaining plant equipment and facilities and other <br />job dufies as assigned. <br />This classification is subject fo 24- hour ca(I during emergency situations. <br />74
