, <br />Wastewater Department - Systems. The steward shali represent employees on all three (3) <br />shifts. The alternate steward shall be recognized when the regular steward is absent or <br />otherwise not available. <br />Section 2. Employees who participate in rneefiings under Step 1 of the Grievance Procedure, <br />during their scheduled workirig time, or other meetings scheduled by the City under the <br />Grievance Procedure, during their scheduled working time, will be paid for time actually lost from <br />their scheduled work time for the purpose of participating in such meetings. The investigation <br />and pracessing of grievances by Union representatives during working time shall be limited to <br />the last fiffieen minutes of a shift. <br />Sec, tion 3. The Local Union Grievance Cammittee shall consis# of the President, Secretary, the <br />Chief Steward and/or the Vice President and/or the Steward from the department involved, but <br />not more than four (4) persons. <br />Section 4. When there is a redirection in force, the following Union officials shall he retained in <br />preference to all employees, provided they can pertorm the available work President, Vice <br />President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chief Steward, Stewards and Alternate Stewards, and three (3) <br />members of the Union Executive Board. <br />Section 5. In case of a suspension or discharge or a formalized disciplinary meeting fihe <br />employee shall have the right to have his Steward present and, upon requesf, will be permitted <br />to discuss his suspension or discharge with the Steward in an area made available by the City <br />before he is required to leave the premises. Within twenty-four (24) hours of the date of a <br />suspension or discharge, the City shall deposit with the regular U.S. Mail, a certified letter to the <br />involved employee stating the reasons for disciplinary action taken, and shall hand deliver a <br />copy of same to a Union Officer or Steward. Disciplinary action may be appealed by the Union <br />through the Grievance Procedure commencing at Step 2 of the Grievance Procedure. An <br />employee who desires to protest the disciplinary action must make an election within five (5) <br />working days fotlowing receipt of written notice as to whether he wishes to pursue the grievance <br />procedure. <br />4 <br />
