Resolution No. 2002-199 <br />River Municipal Court's district, the City of North Olmsted does not receive a pro rata <br />share of the overage, and said funds are instead paid to the City of Rocky River; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to promote the local administration of <br />justice in the City of North Olmsted and further to insure that the funds generated as the <br />result of traffic violations occuning in our City and the exemplary work of our local <br />police officers who enforce the traffic laws of our City, are returned to the City of North <br />Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, under Ohio law, only the Mayor of a municipal corporation may <br />establish a Mayor's Court in that municipal corporation; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, therefore, to urge the Mayor of the <br />City of North Olmsted to exercise the jurisdiction conferred upon him by Chapter 1905 of <br />the Ohio Revised Code and establish a Mayor's Court in the City of North Olmsted, and <br />to seek appropriate legislation from this Council to establish necessary positions and <br />appropriate necessa.ry funds for the organization and operation of said Mayor's Court, in <br />order to promote the local administration of justice in the City of North Olmsted; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL ijED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTXON 1: That this Council urges the Mayor to exercise the jurisdiction <br />confened upon him by Chapter 1905 of the Ohio Revised Code and establish a Mayor's <br />Court in the City of North Olmsted, and to thereafter take all necessary and appropriate <br />steps to implement the establishment of said Mayor's Court, including, but not limited to, <br />requesting legislation from this Council to create necessary positions for the Court and <br />appropriate necessary funds for the organization and operation of said Court. <br />SECTION 2: That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after <br />the eazliest period allowed by law. <br />PASSED: _ First Reading: 1 O c? ? <br />Second Reading.• / ,? <br />Third Reading: ~ LA?&-?L ? l A' -s' <br />Committee: <br />ATTEST.- rc <br />BARBARA L.
