<br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO RENEW THE
<br />CITY'S CU,RRENT INSURANCE POLICIES WITH THE
<br />MUNICIPAL INSURANCE ALLILANCE FOR POLICE
<br />PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY, PROPERTY & SCHEDULED
<br />EQUIPMENT, CRIME, COMPREHENSIVE .LIABILITY, AUTO
<br />LIABILITY & PHYSICAL DAMAGE, PUBLIC OFFICIALS
<br />ERRORS AND OMISSIONS, BOILER & MACHINERY, EDP,
<br />UMBRELLA, AND LIQUOR LIABILITY COVERAGE, AND
<br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
<br />WHEREAS, the City's current insurance policies with the Municipal Insurance
<br />Alliance for Police Professional Liability, Property & Scheduled Equipment, Crime,
<br />Comprehensive Liability, Auto Liability & Physical Damage, Public Officials Errors and
<br />Omissions, Boiler & Machinery, EDP, Umbrella, and Liquor Liability are scheduled to
<br />expire on October 16, 2002; and
<br />WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to have thus insurance coverage renewed
<br />and, in light of the impending expiration date for this coverage, an emergency condition
<br />exists which legally obviates the requirement of competitive bidding; and
<br />WHEREAS, the City may, after renewing these insurance policies, begin the
<br />process of competitively bidding for a new insurance pack.age, and, upon completing the
<br />bidding process and awarding the contract to the lowest and best bidder, cancel the
<br />current policies and, without penalty, incur premium charges only for that period of time
<br />that the policies were in effect; and
<br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to renew the
<br />City's current insurance package coverage with the Munic;ipal Insurance Alliance until
<br />such time as the City may competitively bid the insurance package;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
<br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO:
<br />SECTION 1: That, subject to approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor be
<br />and he hereby is authorized to enter into an agreement or agreements, and take such other
<br />steps as are necessary and appropriate, to renew the City's insurance policies with the
<br />Municipal Insurance Alliance for Police Professional LiabAlity, Property & Scheduled
<br />Equipment, Crime, Comprehensive Liability, Auto Liability & Physical Damage, Public
