CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002-106 <br />BY: Council Member Miller <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO <br />THE ELECTORS OF 7'HE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OFAN <br />AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE Vll, SECTION 6 OF THE <br />CHARTER OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED IN ORDER <br />TO ESTABLISH THE REQUIREMENT THAT CERTAIN <br />111E11IBERS OF THE CITYLANDMARKS COMMISSIONMEET <br />SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND TO <br />OTHERWISE SATISFY CRITERIA FOR CERTIFICATION BY <br />THE OHIO HISTORICAL SOCIETY, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCYAS AMENDED. <br />WHEREA.S, the Qhio Historical Society has authority to certify local government agencies, <br />such as the City Landmarks Commission, as a prerequisite to receive certain federal grants; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Historical Society has outlined specific qualifications to obtain <br />certification, pursuant to federal guidelines, including the professional credentials for service on a <br />certified agency; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to submit to the electors a proposal to amend the <br />Charter so that the City Landmarks Commission would satisfy the criteria for certification by the Ohio <br />Historical Society, to thereby enable the Landmarks Commission to participate in certain federal <br />grants; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUIVCIL UF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, C4iINTY OF CUYAHOGA, OHIO, TWO-THIRDS OFALL MEMBERS <br />CONCURRING THAT: <br />SECTION 1. Pursuant to Article XVIII, Sections 9 of the Ohio Constitution, and Article XII <br />of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, this Council authorizes and directs that the following <br />proposal to amend the Charter of the City of North Olmsted be submitted to the electors of the City <br />of North Olmsted at a special election to be held at the usual places of voting in the City on Tuesday, <br />November 5, 2002: <br />That Article VII, Section 6(a) of the Charter be amended by adding to the qualifications of <br />memhers of the Landmarks Commission, so that, as amended, this paragraph (a) of Section 6 of <br />Article VII shall read as follows: <br />
