Resolution No. 2008-106 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: SECTION 1: That the Mayor and the Council of the City of North Olmsted oppose the proposal of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority ("GCRTA") to eliminate the Number 87F (Westwood I-90) and 96F (Butternut-Hilliard) bus routes, and the major modification of the Number 75X route which will result in the cancellation of weekday direct bus service to downtown Cleveland, because all of these proposed changes in bus transportation services in the western suburbs will result in a diminution in necessary transportation services to the suburban public, particular to elderly, lower income and other transportation-dependent residents living in the western suburbs, including the City of North Olmsted. SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council be, and hereby is, directed to forward a fully attested copy of this Resolution to the Mayors of Fairview Park, Rocky River, Lakewood, and Westlake, and to Joseph Calabrese, General Manager, and all members of the GCRTA Board of Trustees, urging all of them to become involved and take action to oppose and/or cancel, as appropriate, the proposed eliminations and modification of the subject bus routes in the western suburbs, because of the adverse impact these changes in bus service will have upon the general public, and particularly upon the elderly, the lower income and other transportation-dependent persons in North Olmsted and other western suburbs of Cuyahoga County. SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately so that the contents of this Resolution may be timely communicated to the various named officials before the GCRTA acts upon its pending proposal to eliminate and modify the subject bus routes in a manner which will affect the health and safety of those residents of the City of North Olmsted and others living in surrounding western suburbs who are dependent upon the bus routes in issue, and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in,.force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. i, PASSED: First Reading: Second Reading: Third Reading: Committee: ATTeS-h ARA L.
