CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 101 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />HUMAN RESOURCES TO APPLY FOR A DRUG FREE <br />WORKPLACE PROGRAM SAFETY GRANT FROM THE OHIO <br />B UREA U OF WORKERS COMPENSATION; FURTHER <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF <br />AWARDED, AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE <br />OHIO BUREAU OF WORKERS COMPENSATION; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, participants in the Bureau of Workers Coinpensation Drug Free Workplace <br />Program are eligible to receive a 3-1 matching grant, up to a maximum of $15,000 for employee <br />education and supervisor training; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council last year, pursuant to Resolution 2007-61, authorized the <br />Director of Human Resources to apply, and the Mayor to accept if awarded, a Drug Free <br />Workplace Program Safety grant, to partially reimburse the City for training had in 2007; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2008 City employees again received education and supervisors received <br />training regarding the Drug Free Workplace program, this year at a total cost to the City of <br />$1, 800.00; and the City is therefore eligible to apply for a grant to reimburse it for $1, 350.00 of <br />the Ciry's costs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to again authorize the Director of Human <br />Resources to apply for a said Bureau of Workers Compensation Drug Free Workplace Program <br />Safety Grant; to further authorize the Mayor to accept the grant, if awarded, and to execute a <br />contract with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation; and to finally authorize the Director of <br />Human Resources to execute all other non-contract documents necessary to effectuate receir` of <br />the grant; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Human Resources be and is hereby authorized to apply <br />for a Drug Free Workplace Program Safety Grant from the Ohio Bureau of WQrkers <br />Compensation in the amount of $1,350.00 and in the form of Exhibit A attached to this <br />Resolution.
