<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 58 <br />By: Mayor 0'Grady <br />A RESOLUTION RETROACTIVELY AUTHORIZING THE <br />CHIEF OF FIRE TO FILE AN APPLICATION FOR A FISCAL <br />YEAR 2008 HOMELAND SECURITY ASSISTANCE TO <br />FIREFIGHTERS GRANT IN ORDER TO ACQUIRE AN <br />AERIAL APPARATUS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF AWARDED, AND TO <br />EXECUTE A CONTRACT IF REQUIRED; FINALLY <br />AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF FIRE TO EXECUTE ALL <br />OTHER DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE <br />RECEIPT OF THE GRANT, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the North Olmsted Fire Department is in need of an aerial apparatus; and <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Government, through the Department of Homeland Security, is <br />offering Assistance to Firefighters Grants which may be used for the purchase of such firefighting <br />apparatus; and <br />WHEREAS, matching funds in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the grant will be <br />required of the City if the grant is awarded; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to retroactively authorize the Chief of Fire to <br />file an Application for the said FY 2008 Homeland Security Grant; to further authorize the Mayor <br />to accept the grant, if awarded, and to execute a contract if required; and to finally authorize the <br />Chief of Police to execute all other documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the grant; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Chief of Fire be and is hereby retroactively authorized to file an <br />Application with the Department of Homeland Security for a.n FY 2008 Assistance to Firefighters <br />Grant for the acquisition of aerial apparatus. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the grant, if <br />awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required; and that <br />the Chief of Police be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute all other documents necessary to <br />effectuate receipt of the grant.
