be paid Overtime Pay. The education must be approved in advance by the Fire Chief or his <br />designee. <br />ARTICLE XXX EQUIPMENT AND GEAR <br />30.1 The Employer shall furnish and maintain at no cost to the employee all gloves, helmets, <br />pratective clothing and other protective equipment necessary to preserve and protect the safety <br />and health of the employee as deterrnined by the Fire Chief. <br />30.2 An Occupational Safety and Health Committee shall be established and shall serve in an <br />advisory capactty to the Fire Chief. T'he committee shall include the designated Fire Department <br />safety officer, representatives of Fire Department management, and three (3) members of the <br />North Olmsted Fire Department, chasen by the Associatian, who have attained the rank of First <br />Class ar higher. The committee shall also be permitted to include other persons, to be appointed <br />by the Fire Chief. <br />30.3 The purpose af this committee shall be to conduct research, develop recommendations, <br />study, artd review matters pertaining to occtxpational safety and health within the Fire <br />Department. <br />30.4 The committee shall hold regularly seheduled meetings and shall be permitted to hold <br />special meetings whenever necessary. Regular meetings shall be held at least once in every six <br />(6) months. Written minutes shall be retained and sha11 be made available to all employees. <br />30.5 The committee shall make reconunendations to the Fire Chief on matters concerning the <br />safety and health of department members. The Fire Chief shall respond within fourteen (14) days <br />or within a mutually agreed time frame. Should a dispute exist with respect to the decision of the <br />Fire Chief regarding corrective measures, the committee may submit those recommendations to <br />the Safety Director requesting relief from the Fire Chief's decision. Upon receipt, the Safety <br />Director shall respand within ten (10) days. The decisian of the Safety Director may be appealed <br />to the Mayor or his designee and hts deciston shall be final. <br />ARTICLE XXA'I COMPENSATORY TIME <br />31.1 Each employee shall have the right to convert overtime hours into compensatory time <br />with the approval of the Fire Chief or his designee an a dollar-for-dollar basis. Employees shall <br />be paid for all compensatory time accurnulated in excess of fuur hundred eighty (480) hours on <br />the next scheduled pay. <br />31.2 Employees may have the right to take Compensatory Time when the time off does not <br />interfere with the operation of the Fire Department. The taking off of such Compensatory Time <br />shall be subject to the approval of the Fire Chief ar his desipee. Overtime shall be converted to <br />Compensatory Time at the current rate of pay plus Longevity on a dollar-for dollar basis. <br />27
