?. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2008 - 96 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE FIRE AND POLICE <br />CHIEFS TO APPLY ON BEHALF OF THEIR RESPECTIVE <br />DIVISIONS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND <br />SECURITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2008 <br />COMMERCIAL EQUIPMENT DIRECT ASSISTANCE <br />PROGRAM (CEDAP); FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS INCLUDING <br />CONTRACTS REQUIRED TO ACCEPT ASSISTANCE <br />AWARDED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security through its Commercial Equipment <br />Direct Assistance Program ("CEDAP") directly provides valuable equipment to local fire and <br />police departments in order to strengthen the nation's overall preparedness in responding to major <br />critical incidents; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Director of Public Safety that this Council <br />authorize the Fire and Police Chiefs, on behalf of their respective Divisions in the City <br />government, to participate in the said CEDAP program in order to obtain a TNT Hydraulic <br />Rescue System for the North Olmsted Fire Department and a Rapid Deployment Kit - <br />Surveillance System for the North Olmsted Police Department that will enhance the ability of <br />these divisions within the Safety Department to respond to major critical incidents; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council, acting on the said recommendation, to <br />authorize the Fire and Police Chiefs to apply, on behalf of their respective Divisions, to <br />participate in the Fiscal Year 2008 CEDAP program, in order to obtain such equipment; and to <br />further authorize the Mayor, on behalf of the City, to accept any assistance awarded and, as <br />necessary, execute a contract and/or such other documents that may be required to effectuate <br />receipt of such assistance; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CDUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Fire and Police Chiefs be and hereby are authorized to apply to the <br />Department of Homeland Security to participate, on behalf of their respective Divisions in the <br />City of North Olmsted, in the Fiscal Year 2008 Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance <br />Program ("CEDAP") for the purpose of obtaining a TNT Hydraulic Rescue System for the North <br />Olmsted Fire Department and a Rapid Deployment Kit - Surveillance System for the North
