10.2 Employees shall be pemutted to request that vacation leave credit, earned in <br />?K <br />the prior year, be accumulated. In no event sha11 the employee be permitted to accumulate <br />vacation leave credit in excess of the vacation leave credit eamed in the prior yeaz. <br />Employees shall be required to take, or request to be paid, for such accumulated vacation <br />leave credit within one (1) year from the date the employee requested accumulation of <br />such vacation leave credit. An employee shall forfeit his right to take or be paid for any <br />vacation Ieave to his credit which is in excess of the accumulated vacation credit for one <br />(1) prior year. All such excess vacation leave credit shall be eliminated from the <br />employee's vacation leave balance. <br />10.3 Employees' Planning to Retire: Prior to November 1 of the year of planned <br />retirement, a tentative established date must be determined to calculate the amount of <br />carry over permitted to equal that which the employee in entitled to based upon years of <br />service. The employee sha11 notify the Chief of Police a minimum of twelve months prior to the <br />planned retirement date. That portion carried over will be the amount when added to vacation <br />earned in year of retirement equals vacation total for two (2) years. If employee extends <br />pre-established retirement date that portion of vacation carried over which exceeds amount <br />entitled to will be forfeited, unless there is just and reasonable cause esta.blished by the individual <br />planning retirement and agreed to by the Chief of Police. <br />E <br />12 <br />
