, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted requests the <br />Cuyahoga County Board of Elections to discontinue its use of butterfly-type ballots, <br />wherein multiple names or issues are placed on facing pages, in all future elections <br />conducted in this County, and further to expedite its plans to consider electronic <br />balloting in this County. <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forwazd a copy of <br />this Resolution immediately upon its passage and approval to each member of the <br />Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, to each member of the Cuyahoga County Board <br />of Commissioners, and to Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and <br />welfare, and for the further reason that it is necessary that this Resolution become <br />effective immediately so that steps can be taken at the County and, if necessary, State <br />level to discontinue the use of butterfly-type ballot forms in Cuyahoga County, prior to <br />the time when ballot forms must be approved for the primary elections in the Spring of <br />2001, and further provided that it receives an aff'irmative vote of two-thirds of all <br />members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage <br />and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />ATlEST: <br />BARBARA L.
