<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted supports and <br />hereby encourages the Congress of the United States to pass House Bill 3377, entitled <br />the "Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act," and House Bill 3883, entitled <br />the "Genetically Engineered Food Safety Act." <br />SECTION 2: That the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward a copy of <br />this Resolution immediately upon its passage and approval to Congressman Kucinich <br />and to the following State of Ohio officials: Governor Bob Taft, State Senator Robert <br />Spada and State Representative Sally Conway Kilbane. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and <br />welfare, and for the further reason that it is necessary that this Resolution becomes <br />effective immediately so that the residents of North Olmsted may become <br />knowledgeable concerning, and further may be protected against, possible unhealthy <br />conditions relating to consuming genetically engineered foods, and further provided that <br />it receives an affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take <br />effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />A'?'T?ST: - <br />i / y- y'-?--?- <br />BARBARA L.
