Polytech, Inc., as prime consultant, developed construction plans for the widening ofRichmond Road <br />(S.R. 1.75) in the City of Warrensville Heights and Village of Highland Hills, from the I-271 ramp <br />? to Harvazd Avenue. The project is one of several which were designed simultaneously in the area to <br />accommodate the increase in traffic from anticipated development. <br />? Within the project area, Richmond Road was a two-lane uncurbed highway. It is on a tangent <br />alignment, with a gently rolling profile, and serves to access Sunny Acres Hospital, Cuyahoga County <br />Community College Eastern Campus, Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged, several private <br />? residences and future development sites. <br />? The road was widened to four lanes with curbs and sidewalks, and a 30 ft. median for the portion <br />from the Community College to Harvard Road. The construction plans addressed the following items <br />of work: <br />New reinforced concrete pavement, with pavement joint plans and intersection details <br />? 0 New storm sewer system to replace the existing system of ditches and sma11 culverts. Three <br />major culverts were installed <br />' 0 New water line and sanitary sewer. <br />0 New signing and pavement ma.rking, and provisions for future traffic lights at two <br />? intersections <br />0 Maintenance of traffic plans, with provisions for through traffic to be detoured while <br />maintaining at least one lane open at a11 times to provide access for local residents and <br />? institutions <br />0 Coordina.tion with utility owners to address the required relocations of underground electric <br />? conduits, telephone lines, gas lines, water lines, and utility poles <br />? 0 Right of way plans <br />?
