?
F

p

F
E
?
? ...??
POLYTECH
EN(31NEERS
Description:
REHABILITATION OF
VIRGINIA AVENUE AND SUMMERLAND AVENUE
City of North Olmsted, Ohio
Owner: City of North Olmsted
Project Cost: $600,000
Completion Date: 1996
Virginia Avenue and
Summerland Avenue are
residential streets in the City
of North Olmsted, Ohio.
Both are dead end streets,
about 1000 feet long, and
originally had asphalt
pavement with an open
drainage system. Mature
deciduous trees line both
sides of the streets.
Polytech provided
professional engineering
design services to replace the
existing pavement with a new
two-lane curbed concrete pavement. New sidewalks and tree lawns were provided along both sides
of the road, a1ong with driveway apron replacements up to the Right-of-Way line. A new profile was
designed for the roadway, adjusted to keep all work within the Right-of-Way and to preserve the
mature trees.
Curb inlets were provided
for drainage, and a new
storm sewer system was
designed. New turnarounds
were provided at the ends of
the streets. Miscellaneous
details were provided for the
relocation and adjustment of
the fire hydrants, adjustment
of curb boxes, sanitary sewer
manholes and other
appurtenances.
