Removal of a sign shall include the sign face, enclosing frame, all sign <br />supporting members and base, unless otherwise specified in the order to remove. <br />1163.12 NUMBER, DATE, AND VOLTAGE. <br />Every permitted sign or other advertising structure shall display in a readily <br />observable place, of a design, style, letter-size and contrast to be readily legible to an <br />average person on the ground: the date of erection, the number of the permit issued, <br />and the voltage of all electrical apparatus used, if any. <br />1163.13 MAINTENANCE REQUIRED. <br />Any sign shall be maintained so as not to show evidence of deterioration, <br />including peeling, rust, dirt, fading, damage, discoloration or holes. <br />1163.14 OUTDATED SIGNS PROHIBITED. <br />No sign or other advertising structure shall advertise a business which is no longer <br />in existence or a product which is no longer sold at the business, as such signs are <br />misleading to the public, create undue visual clutter, and pose a hazard to traffic <br />control and safety. <br />1163.15 ABANDONED SIGNS PROHIBITED. <br />Signs which are abandoned, or which are accessory to an abandoned use of <br />property, are prohibited and shall be removed. A use shall be determined abandoned if <br />it has ceased its operations for a least ninety consecutive days, unless the use is typically <br />seasonal. <br />1163.16 OBSTRUCTIONS PROHIBITED. <br />No sign or other advertising structure shall be erected, relocated or maintained so <br />as to prevent free ingress or egress, or block any light or ventilation openings. No sign <br />of any kind shall be located or attached so as to obstruct emergency facilities or <br />equipment. No sign, otherwise permitted in this Chapter, supported by or suspended <br />from a building shall hang less than eight feet above a pedestrian path, or less than <br />fifteen feet above a vehicular path. <br />1163.17 TRAFFIC HAZARDS. <br />No sign or other advertising structure shall: <br />(a) Obstruct free and clear vision within sight triangles at any street or vehicular <br />drive intersection defined by a line drawn connecting points lying on each curb line <br />thirty-five (35) feet from the point of intersection of the curb lines. <br />(b) Interfere with, obstruct the view of, or be similar in appearance to any <br />authorized traffic sign, signal or device because of its position, shape, use of words, or <br />color. <br />9 <br />
