Box 48
Narth Oimsted, OH 44070
Dear Civil Service Commission,
Thank you for the opportunity to submit a proposal for the Fire Lieutenant
examination.
If you limit the assessment to the top 6 candidates, I think you may have a
lot of protests even though it is a rational decision. Candidates will
cornplain that the written test is only a percentage of their score and that
they are being denied a promotional opportunity.
In order to test more candidates, we have presen#ed a sliding fee scale
based on the number of candidates. We pay each of our assessors $300
per day. If we have few candidates, our prices must be increased to
compensate for the assessor fee. If we have more candidates, we can
decrease the fee per candidate up to a point. If the number of candidates
increases significantly, we have to increase the number of teams of
assessors so we can cpmplete the exam in one day. Again, for cost
considerations, we may have multipie teams of two assessors rather than
three to reduce our outside costs.
We will work with you, but if you think that this is cost prohibitive, I would
recommend only doing a written test rather than limiting the number of
candidates for the assessment.
Sincerely, ,
9 2003
Pat E?'EIYED JUL 2
Ramsey, resi dent ?
