Ordinance No. 2003-104 <br />given at a distance and in such a manner as not to startle a person being overtaken and <br />passed. <br />(g) No person, when riding a bicycle on a sidewalk, shall ride a the bicycle <br />across or through an intersection when crossing a through street. Such intersections are <br />to be crossed by walking the bicycle across or through the intersection. <br />(h) Whenever a person is riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk, the person, before <br />overtaking and passing a blind person carrying a white cane, shall dismount and overtake <br />or pass on foot; <br />(i) When a bicycle is operated on a street, the operator shall obey all traffic laws. <br />, ehatiging lanes Stieh sigfWs sha4l eenfeM.I. <br />w:+1. +1.e Ad..+..« Ve1.;..1e T a ..F+1,,. C+.,te <br />(j) Every rider of a bicycle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any <br />pedestrian or any vehicle upon any roadway, sidewalk or bicycle path, or endangering the <br />life, limb or property of any person while in the lawful use of the streets, sidewalks or <br />any other private or public property." <br />SECTION 2: That a11 ordinances, or parts of ordinances, inconsistent or in <br />conflict with this Ordinance, be, to the extent of such inconsistency or conflict, repealed. <br />SECTION 3: That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Ordinance go into efFect immediately so that <br />the bicycle safety provisions of this Ordinance may be administered by the Police <br />Department at the earliest time possible in order to protect the health, <br />of children in the community, and further provided it receives the <br />two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in <br />upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />??1 <br />PASSED: I,? ,34{ ;? o D?
