Ordinance No. 2003-104 <br />(b) The Chief of Police shall direct the owner to attach such license plate to the <br />rear mudguazd or frame of the bicycle for which issued in such a position as to be plainly <br />visible from the rear. <br />(c) The Chief of Police shall furnish each registrant with a copy of the provisions <br />of this chapter and other information as he may deem appropriate. <br />(d) No person shall maliciously remove, destroy, mutilate or alter any serial <br />number of any bicycle licensed hereunder, or any license plate or license card issued <br />hereunder. <br />(e) In the event the license plate is lost, defaced or destroyed, the Chief of Police, <br />when satisfied of such fact, shall issue a new license plate upon application of the owner <br />of such bicycle. <br />373.15 RIDING ON STREETS, BICYCLE PATHS OR SIDEWALKS. <br />It shall be legal to ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk, street or public way, or upon <br />any path set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, subject to the following: <br />(a) Every person operating a bicycle upon a street shall ride as near to the right <br />side of the street as is practicable, exercising due care when passing a standing vehicle or <br />one proceeding in the same direction. <br />(b) Persons riding bicycles upon a street shall ride not more than two abreast, <br />except on paths or parts of streets set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles. <br />(c) Wherever a designated path for bicycles has been provided adjacent to a <br />street, bicycle riders shall use such path and shall not use the street. <br />(d) Any person operating a bicycle may ride upon the sidewalk rather than the <br />roadway when sidewalks are available and not congested with pedestrian traffic. If the <br />sidewalk is congested with pedestrian traffic, the bicycle operator using the sidewalks <br />shall walk the bicycle. At no time shall a bicyclist under the age of eight (8) operate a <br />bicycle on a residential street. At no time shall a bicyclist under the age of twelve (12) <br />operate a bicycle on any street which is not a residential street. <br />(e) No person shall ride a bicycle upon a sidewalk upon or along which signs <br />have been erected by authority of the Chief of Police prohibiting such bicycle riding. <br />(f) Whenever a person is riding a bicycle upon a sidewalk or street, such person <br />shall yield the right of way to any pedestrian and shall give an audible signal before <br />attempting to overtake and pass a pedestrian or another bicycle. This audible signal must <br />be given only by a bell or other warning device capable of giving an audible signal, but in <br />no event shall a siren or whistle be used for signaling purposes.
