<br />CITY OF NORTH 4LMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003 - 29 <br />By: Council Member Miller and Council Member Kasler <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR TO <br />STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF LOCATING, AND ENTERING INTO A <br />NEW WATER SERVICE AGREEEMENT WITH, A LORr4IN COUNTY <br />PUBLIC WATER SYSTEM, IN ORDER TO PROCURE WATER SUPPLY <br />SERYICES TO THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND ITS RESIDENTS <br />AND PROPERTY OWNERS, AND FURTHER DIRECTING THE MAYOR <br />TO REPt?RT TO THE COUNCIL ON A REGULAR BASIS REGARDING <br />THE STATUS OF HIS EFFORTS IN THIS REGARD, AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted currently receives its water supply from the City <br />of Cleveland Division of Water pursuant to a certain written Water Service Agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of this Council that other public water systems <br />may exist in Lorain County which are capable of supplying water to the City of North Olmsted, <br />and its residents and property owners; and <br />WhTEREAS, over the course of the last year, citizens of North Olmsted have cornplained <br />to the Mayor and to this Council regarding the City of Cleveland's high water rates, have <br />inquired regarding the availability of alternative sources of water supply for the City, and have <br />asked that the City explore the feasibility of contracting with an alternative public water system; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize and direct the Mayor to <br />commission a feasibility study to determine the benefrts of and impediments to entering into a <br />new water services agreement with a Lorain County public water system, in order to acquire <br />water at a better rate for North Olmsted residents and property owners; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IS ItESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF TfIE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO THAT.• <br />? ?? ..., .
