VARGAS, P.E <br />PROJECT MANAGER <br />EDUCATION: <br />B.S., Civil Engineering, 1981 <br />B.S., Geology, 1981 <br />Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio <br />EXPERIENCE: <br />Mrs. Vargas has contributed to the design of a variety of civil engineering projects, with <br />emphasis on highway design, roadway rehabilitation, pavement design, right-of-way, utilities, <br />drainage, and hydraulic calculations. Her responsibilities have included the preparation of <br />contract drawings and specifications, quantity calculations and cost estimates, and coordination <br />of work with public agencies, private utilities and subconsultants. <br />Her most recent experience includes design work on the following projects: <br />Project Manager: Widening and reconstruction of Richmond Road in Warrensville <br />Heights and Highland Hills, Cuyahoga County, for the Ohio Department of <br />Transportation. The work for this 0.6 mile section included complete removal of the 2- <br />lane road, replacement with a 4-lane reinforced concrete pavement with turning lanes and <br />a 30-foot median, construction of new storm sewers, sanitary sewer, water line <br />relocation, pavement marking, signing, right-of-way and maintenance of traffic. <br />Extensive coordination was performed to match work on adjoining projects and to inform <br />private utility owners. <br />Project Manager: Highway Improvements to U.S. Route 322, Geauga County for <br />the Ohio Department of Transportation. The design includes the improvement of a 2.5 <br />mile section of U.S. Route 322 from 2 lanes to 4 and 5 lanes and 0.6 mile of State Route <br />306 to 5 lanes. The preliminary phase includes the establishment of horizontal and <br />vertical alignment, relocation of Caves Road, pavement design and typical sections. <br />The final design includes the preparation of roadway plans, drainage design, right-of-way <br />plans, signal plans, maintenance of traffic plans, cross-road intersection details, <br />signing and pavement marking and construction cost estimate. <br />Design Engineer: Bridge Replacement and Rehabilitation Program of the Ohio <br />Department of Transportation. Mrs. Vargas is responsible for various aspects related <br />to roadway design, drainage, right-of-way, utility relocations and coordination on <br />this ongoing program. Several of these bridges have been successfully constructed, and <br />plans for several others are at various stages of completion. All plans are prepared <br />following the latest ODOT standards and specifications, and design is in accordance with <br />the Location and Design Manual. <br />10
