?
?
c
.??
HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS
STATE ROUTE 175, RICHMOND ROAD
CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OffiO
Owner: Ohio Department of Transportation
Project Cost: $2.0 Million
Completion Date: 1994
?
id
Description:
Polytech, Inc., as prime consultant, developed construction plans for the widening of Richmond
Road (S.R. 175) in the City of Warrensville Heights and Village of Highland Hills, from the I-271
ramp to Harvard Avenue. The project is one of several which are being designed simultaneously
near the location of the proposed Figgie Corporation Headquarters to accommodate the anticipated
increase in traffic.
Within the project area, Richmond Road is a two-lane uncurbed highway. It is on a tangent
alignment, with a gently rolling profile, and serves to access Sunny Acres Hospital, Cuyahoga
County Community College Eastern Campus, Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged,
several private residences, and a future site of the Figgie development project.
The road will be widened to four lanes with curbs and sidewalks, and a 30 ft. median for the
portion adjacent to the Figgie property. The construction plans will address the following items
of work:
- new reinforced concrete pavement, with pavement joint plans and intersection details
- new storm sewer system to replace the existing system of ditches and small culverts.
Three major culverts will be upgraded.
- new signing and pavement marking, and provisions for future traffic lights at two
intersections
- maintenance of traffic plans, with provisions for through traffic to be detoured while
maintaining at least one lane open at all times to provide access for local residents and
institutions
- relocation of the sanitary sewer
- coordination with utility owners to address the required relocations of underground
telephone ]ines, gas lines, water lines, and utility poles right of way plans construction cost
estimates.
17
I
