<br />REPAIR AND RESURFACING <br />OF INTERSTATE ROUTE 90 <br />URBAN SECTION <br />CITY OF CLEVELAND <br />Client: Ohio Department of Transportation <br />Project Cost: $15.7 Million <br />Completion Date: 1994 <br />Description: <br />Interstate Route 90 in the west side of the City of Cleveland carries four lanes of traffic in each <br />direction and is a vital link connecting the western suburbs to Downtown, besides carrying <br />traffic on the interstate link between Chicago, Illinois, and Buffalo, New York. It was originally <br />designed and constructed in the 1960's and 1970's with concrete pavement, asphalt shoulders, <br />and concrete barriers along portions of the median. <br />Polytech, Inc. as prime consultant is responsible for designing the repair, resurfacing and <br />upgrading of a 6 mile section between West 159th Street and West 44th Street, a section which <br />includes five (5) interchanges, seven (7) dual bridges, and thirteen (13) single bridges. The <br />contract plans include the following items of work: <br />1) Roadway design: <br />- concrete pavement repairs by partial-depth, full-depth or complete slab replacement <br />- widening of sub-standard ramps <br />- construction of new concrete shoulders <br />- replacement or reconstruction of pressure relief joints <br />- resurfacing of mainline, ramps and marginal roads <br />- removal of concrete curbing at gore areas <br />- guardrail replacement, including upgrading of terminal assemblies to meet current <br />standards <br />- reshaping and upgrading drainage ditches and structures <br />- installation of new underdrains <br />- right-of-way fence replacement <br />18
