TOBACCO ROW STREETSCAPE IlVIPROVEMENTS <br />, CITY OF RICHMOND, VIRGINIA <br />Owner: City of Richmond <br />Project Cost: $3.8 Million <br />Completion Date: 1989 <br />Description: <br />Polytech, Inc. was selected by the City of Richmond to provide professional services for the <br />improvement of various streets in the Tobacco Row Area. The improvement area includes East <br />Cary, East Main, East Franklin and Dock Streets running east-west, and streets running <br />north-south from 21st to 26th Street between East Cary and Franklin Streets. <br />Typical improvements to the above streets included: <br />° Reconstruction and widening of East Cary Street <br />° Resurfacing of streets <br />° Existing granite curbs reset and realigned <br />° Sidewalks consisting of brick pavers set on concrete <br />° Selected sections of pavement constcucted using ornamental precast concrete pavers <br />° Handicapped access ramps <br />° Pedestrian crosswalks at all intersections <br />° Necessary inlets, catch basin and surface drainage facilities <br />° Ornamental lighting fixtures with underground conduits <br />° Utility rearrangements <br />° Street uees and tree grates <br />The scope of work included schematic design, design development, contract design drawings, <br />specifications and cost estimates. <br />22
