ft number of days shall then be computed successively, exciuding Saturdays, Sundays, <br />and holidays. <br />Section 8: A policy grievance is defined to mean a grievance in which a <br />controversy has been raised, the nature of which, if nat resolved wiit affect the entire <br />bargaining unit or members within the bargaining unit who have a commonality of <br />interest in the outcome of the grievance. Such policy grievance shall be filed within the <br />time constraints established in Section 2, Step 1, of this Article, and shall be heard on a <br />Step 3 levet of the grievance procedure. <br />ARTlCLE 8 - PROBATIONARY PERIDD <br />Section 1. New employees shall be considered to be on probation for a period of <br />one hundred and eighty (180) calendar days. During the probationary period, discharge <br />or suspension by the City shall not be subject to the grievance procedure. <br />10* <br />Section 2. If an employee is discharged, retires, or quits during the probationary <br />period described in Section 1 and is later rehired, he shall be considered as a new <br />employee and subject to the provisions of Section 1. <br />ARTICLE 9 - SENIORITY <br />Section 1. Only regular full-time employees of the City shall have seniority. <br />Students, summer employees and part-time empioyees shaN have no seniority rights. <br />Part-time employees are those employees who are regularly scheduled to work twenty <br />(20) hours or less per week. A regular full-time employee is one who is scheduled for <br />forty (40) hours of work per week. <br />Section 2. Seniority shail mean an employee's uninterrupted length of <br />continuous service with the City measured from his last hiring date as a full-fiime <br />*_ ? emptoyee.
