Section 2. Regular fuli-time employees shali be laid off on the basis of their <br />seniority within their classification. When the seniorit,y or service of two (2) or more <br />employees is equal, employees shall be laid off by the drawing of lots. In the event an <br />employee cannot hold his present classification, he shall have the right to "bump" an <br />employee with lesser seniority in an equal or lower rated ciassification within the City, <br />provided the employee has the ability to do the work of the classification. <br />Section 3. A regular fu(I-time empioyee shall be given a minimum of two (2) <br />weeks advance notice of layoff for lack of work. <br />Section 4. !n the event an employee is laid off for lack of work, he shall receive <br />payment for any earned but unused vacation as quickly as practicable, but no later than <br />fourteen (14) calendar days after the lay-off. <br />ARTICLE 18 - RECALL FROM I.AY-OFF <br />Section 1. Employees shall be recalled to their classification in accordance with <br />seniority or to other jobs they are qualified to perform in accordance with their seniority <br />in the reverse order of their lay-off. An employee an lay-off will be given seven (7) <br />calendar days' notice of recall from the date on which the United States Postal Service <br />makes the first attempt to deliver the recall notice by certified mail to the empioyee's last <br />known address as shown on the City's records. This period may be extended by <br />agreement between the City and the Union <br />ARTICLE 19 - PROMOTIONS, BIDDING, TRANSFERS AND JOB TRAINING <br />Sec#ion 1. When a vacancy occurs within a job classification covered by <br />the terms of this Agreement, or a new job is created within the meaning of Article 24 of <br />this Agreement, the City shall post a notice of the opening for seven (7) consecutive <br />calendar days on bulletin boards within each department.
