JOB DESCRIPTION: <br />POSITION TITLE: <br />RESPONSIBLE TO: <br />BUILDING INSPECTOR <br />BUILDING C(JMMISSIONER <br />DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: <br />1. Make field inspections to determine that construction and alteration work being done <br />complies with the City Building Code and Zoning Ordinances. <br />2. Checks the quality of materials and methods of construction. <br />3. Consults with Builders and others regarding compliance with the Building laws. <br />4. Works independently, making own final decisions. <br />5. Work is subject to periodic check. <br />6. Reviews plans filed with applications for compliance with the City Zoning Law and <br />Building Code. <br />7. Inspects a!1 construction, demolition, and repair of buildings in the City for safety from fire <br />and collapse and for confirmation to height and area requirements. <br />8. Checks buildings during construction for size and depth of footings, size and type of <br />materials used for walls, sills, beams, joists, bracing, flooring, roofing, lathing andplastering. <br />9. Inspects soil for its suitability for foundations. <br />10. Issues stop work orders when necessary. <br />11. G+ves information to builders and others regarding• requirements of the law. <br />12. Makes final inspections of completed buildings giving occupancy approval for City. <br />13. Inspects fences, signs, and concrete wark, for compliance with the zoning and building laws. <br />14.
