<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 72 -192 <br />BY: Giesser <br />CORRECTED <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE ELECTRICAL <br />CODE FOR THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AND <br />INCORPOR7~TING THEREIN THE PROVISIONS OF <br />THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1971 EDITION, <br />AS A PART THEREOF, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner and the Electrical Inspector of <br />the City of North Olmsted have advised the Legislative Committee that the <br />National Electrical Code, 1971 Edition, contains the nationally recognized safe <br />practices considered necessary for electrical construction; and <br />WHEREAS, said Electrical Code contains only the basic minimum safe <br />practices; and <br />WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner has advised the Legislative <br />Committee that certain changes are necessary within the National Electrical <br />Code, 1971 edition, for the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner has advised the Legislative <br />Committee that the National Electrical Code, 19? 1 edition, together with the <br />changes recommended are necessary for safe electrical construction within <br />the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, the Legislative Committee of Council has advised Council <br />that said code and its changes should be adopted by the City of North Olmsted <br />in order to regulate electrical construction within the City of North Olmsted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, B E IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />North Olmsted, State of Ohio: <br />Section 1. That the National Electrical Code, 1971 edition, is hereby <br />adopted in its entirety, except for the changes which are set forth in the following <br />sections of this ordinance. <br />Section 2. CONTRACTORS CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE. <br />All electrical contractor's certificates of registration and all <br />renewals thereof shall expire on the 31st day of December of each year, <br />and may be renewed, providing all non-compliance with or violations of <br />this Code by the registrant have been corrected to the satisfaction of the <br />Building Commissioner of the City of North Olmsted and upon payment <br />of the renewal fee, no fee or charge is to be waived for any cause. The <br />correction of non-compliance or violations of the Code shall be done on <br />the forms provided by the Building Commissioner. The amount of any <br />and all fees as hereinbefore established, shall be doubled if any work <br />or installation has been commenced before any application for a permit <br />for such work is applied for or obtained. The penalty provision hereinbefore <br />set forth shall not apply to an emergency work, provided that the Electrical <br />Inspector is notified within twenty-four (24) hours of commencement of <br />the work, and a permit is then obtained within the period designated by <br />him . <br />Section 3. COVERING NEW AND OLD WORK. <br />When the wiring or electrical equipment in any building is <br />being altered, or installed, it shall be unlawful for anyone to cover such <br />
