CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 72 -192 BY: Giesser CORRECTED AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE ELECTRICAL CODE FOR THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED AND INCORPOR7~TING THEREIN THE PROVISIONS OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1971 EDITION, AS A PART THEREOF, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner and the Electrical Inspector of the City of North Olmsted have advised the Legislative Committee that the National Electrical Code, 1971 Edition, contains the nationally recognized safe practices considered necessary for electrical construction; and WHEREAS, said Electrical Code contains only the basic minimum safe practices; and WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner has advised the Legislative Committee that certain changes are necessary within the National Electrical Code, 1971 edition, for the City of North Olmsted; and WHEREAS, the Building Commissioner has advised the Legislative Committee that the National Electrical Code, 19? 1 edition, together with the changes recommended are necessary for safe electrical construction within the City of North Olmsted; and WHEREAS, the Legislative Committee of Council has advised Council that said code and its changes should be adopted by the City of North Olmsted in order to regulate electrical construction within the City of North Olmsted. NOW, THEREFORE, B E IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of North Olmsted, State of Ohio: Section 1. That the National Electrical Code, 1971 edition, is hereby adopted in its entirety, except for the changes which are set forth in the following sections of this ordinance. Section 2. CONTRACTORS CERTIFICATE AND LICENSE. All electrical contractor's certificates of registration and all renewals thereof shall expire on the 31st day of December of each year, and may be renewed, providing all non-compliance with or violations of this Code by the registrant have been corrected to the satisfaction of the Building Commissioner of the City of North Olmsted and upon payment of the renewal fee, no fee or charge is to be waived for any cause. The correction of non-compliance or violations of the Code shall be done on the forms provided by the Building Commissioner. The amount of any and all fees as hereinbefore established, shall be doubled if any work or installation has been commenced before any application for a permit for such work is applied for or obtained. The penalty provision hereinbefore set forth shall not apply to an emergency work, provided that the Electrical Inspector is notified within twenty-four (24) hours of commencement of the work, and a permit is then obtained within the period designated by him . Section 3. COVERING NEW AND OLD WORK. When the wiring or electrical equipment in any building is being altered, or installed, it shall be unlawful for anyone to cover such
