`fir' <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 72- ~~~ <br />BY: ~ ~L'~~ <br />,. , <br />~' -' <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 545.08 OF THE <br />GENERAL OFFENSES CODE OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, OHIO, (CODIFIED ORDINANCES) EN- <br />TITLED " CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPONS " TO <br />CONFORM TO CHANGES ENACTED BY THE OHIO <br />GENERAL ASSEMBLY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the <br />City of North Olmsted that the North Olmsted General Offenses Code be reviewed <br />to eliminate any conflicts with the provisions of the State Statutes, as enacted by <br />the Ohio General Assembly. <br />NOW, THEREFORE;' BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of North <br />Olmsted, State of Ohio : <br />Section 1. That Section 545.08, Chapter 545 (Codified Ord finances) of <br />the North Olmsted General Offenses reading as follows: <br />545.08 CARRYING CONCEALED WEAPONS. <br />{ a) No person shall carry a pistol, bowie knife, dirk or other <br />dangerous weapon concealed on or about his person. This <br />section does not affect the right of sheriffs, regular~Z ap- <br />pointed police officers of municipal corporations, regularly <br />elected constables, and special officers as provided by Ohio <br />R. C. 737.10, 1717.06 1721.14 and 2917.32 to go armed when <br />on duty. Deputy sheriffs and specially appointed police officers, <br />except as are appointed or called into service under such sections, <br />may go armed if they first give bond to this State, to be approved <br />by the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas, in the sum of one <br />thousand dollars ($1, 000.) , conditioned to save the public <br />harmless by reason of any unlawful use of such weapons carried <br />by them. Persons injured by such improper use may have re- <br />cours a on such bond . <br />(b) Whoever violates this section shall, for a first offense, be guilty <br />of a misdemeanor. <br />be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows <br />545.08 CARRYING CONCEALED WEANS CAPABLE OF INFLICTING <br />BODILY HARM. <br />(a) No person shall carry a bowie knife, dirk, blackjack, billyclub, <br />brass knuclales or other weapons capable of inflicting bodily harm <br />concealed on or about his person. Ttis section does not affect <br />the right of sheriffs, regularly appointed police officers or munici- <br />pal corporations, regularly elected constable and special officers <br />as provided under Ohio R.C. 311.07, 737.10 1717.06, 1?21.14 <br />and 2917.32 ~o go armed when on duty.
