~~,,. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE No. 70-136 <br />AN ORDINAi~CE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE <br />ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OF CERTAIN <br />AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLM5TED AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CHARTER REVIEW <br />COMMISSION. <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission of the City of North Olmsted appointed <br />pursuant to Article XIV of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted has filed its <br />report of recommended amendments to the Charter with this Council; and <br />WHEREAS, Article XIV of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted requires <br />Council to submit sum proposed amendments to the electors; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of North Olmsted, <br />Cuyahoga County, Ohio, two-thirds of all members concurring: <br />Section 1. That this Council hereby authorizes and directs the submission <br />to the electors of the City of North Olmsted at an election to be held at the <br />usual places of voting in said City on Tuesday, November 3, 1970, the following <br />separate proposals to amend the Charter of the City of North Olmsted: <br />1. That Sections 1, 2 and 3 of Article III of the Charter relating to <br />the office of Mayor be amended to increase the term of office from <br />two to four years, to prohibit the Mayor from holding other full- <br />time employment, to measure the residency requirement from the date <br />of filing nominating petitions, and to make disqualification while <br />in office a ground for removal, such amended Sections 1, 2 and 3 <br />of Article III to read as follows: <br />Article III <br />THE MAYOR <br />Section 1. Term <br />~osmmencing with the regular municipal election in the year <br />1971, and every fourth year thereafter, the Mayor shall be <br />elected for a term of four years. His term shall cam~aence and <br />he shall assume office on the first day of January next follow- <br />ing such election. <br />Section 2. Qualifications <br />The Mayor shall have been a qualified elector and a resident <br />of this City for at least two (2) years immediately prior to <br />the final date for filing nominating petitions for such office, and <br />shall continue to be a qualified elector and resident therein <br />during his term. He shall not hold any other elective or appointive <br />office or other full-time employment, public or private. He shall <br />not serve on continuous active military service in excess of one <br />(1) month, either state or national, nor shall he hold any other <br />public office or public employment, except that of notary public <br />or member of the State Militia, National Guard or Reserve Corps <br />of the United States. These qualifications shall apply to any <br />person filling a vacancy in the office of Mayor. <br />
