,. <br />- 12 - <br />36. Union Leave: Upon written request Prom the Union, a leave <br />of absence without pay shall be granted to not more than two <br />(2) employees for a period of not in excess of ten (10) days <br />per year each Por the purpose oP attending Union conventions <br />or other Union activities which necessitate a suspension oP <br />active employment. Additional absences for Union business <br />may be permitted as conditions permit having in mind the <br />volume of work. <br />37. Paid Sick Leave: An employee who has completed his probationary, <br />period shall be granted sick leave Por personal illness or <br />injury as Follows: <br />a. Paid sick leave shall be earned and accumulated at <br />the rate oP one-and-one-Fourth (1-1/b) days Por <br />each month; <br />b. Pay for sick leave shall be at the employee`s straight <br />time hourly rate (or portion thereof if absent for <br />less than a Pull day); <br />c. If an employee is absent on sick leave for more than <br />three (3) consecutive work days, the City shall require <br />the employee to present medical evidence as to the <br />nature oP the illness and the disability and to the <br />employee's ability to return to work. Such medical <br />evidence may be required by the City in the case of an <br />absence of three (3) days or less. <br />d. Elaployees may use, when necessary, up to three (3) days <br />oP earned and accumulated sick leave Por the purpose <br />of attending the fl~neral oP his spouse, child, mother, <br />father, brother, sister, grandparent, or grandchild. <br />
