Whenever it is necessary for the City to reduce its forces, the <br />employees within the department to be reduced will be laid off in <br />the following order: <br />a. Students; <br />b. Temporary, part time, and seasonal employees; <br />c. Employees who have not completed their probationary <br />period; <br />d. Regular full-time employees within the classification <br />affected who have completed their probationary period; <br />e. In the application of the foregoing, employees will be <br />retained by reason of their seniority only if they are <br />able to perform the available work. <br />41. Regular full time employees shall be laid off on the basis of their <br />seniority within their classification. When the seniority or <br />service of two or ire employees is equal, employee shall be laid <br />off alphabetically, commencing with the letter "A". In the event <br />an employee cannot hold in his present classification, he shall <br />have the right to "bump" an employee with lesser seniority in an <br />equal or lower rated classification within the department, provided <br />the employee has the ability to do the work of the classification. <br />42. Whenever possible, a regular fill time employee shall be given a <br />minimum of one (1) week's advance notice of a lay off for lack of <br />work. <br />43. In the event an employee is laid off for lack of work, he shall <br />receive payment for any earned but unused vacation as quickly as <br />possible but no later thaw fourteen (14) calendar days after the <br />lay off. <br />I <br />
