'~~-~i 9 <br />By ~ z <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE OHIO CONGRESSMAN URGE <br />RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE NATIONAL AERONAUTICS <br />AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION BUDGET FOR THE LEWIS RESEARCH <br />CENTER <br />WHEREAS, the Lewis Research Center of the National Aeronautics <br />and Space Administration represents an unmatched combination <br />of professional expertise, technical skill and unique facilities <br />devoted to advancing the field of aeronautical propulsion, space <br />utilization and electric power generation, and <br />WHEREAS, United States pre-eminence in these fields is essential <br />to the economic well being of the country and provides the tools to <br />solve problems in many other areas such as pollution, medicine, <br />burgeoning energy needs, and transportation, and <br />WHEREAS, the highly trained staff of Lewis Research Center working <br />at the very frontiers of knowledge represent a national resource of <br />incalculable value which can be lost within a short span of time unless <br />it continues to be fully utilized, and <br />WHEREAS, the continuing well being of our nation is clearly dependent <br />on a reliable continuity of large sources of clean energy that will <br />require the use of advanced technologies of exactly the kind being <br />furthered at Lewis, and <br />WHEREAS, the United States has consistently led the world in <br />providing the aeronautical product of aircraft and engines because of <br />the technical superiority of this product, a superiority provided in <br />large measure by NASA, and <br />WHEREAS, the technologies of space operation, sensing and <br />computerized analysis being pursued by the Lewis Research Center <br />contribute to solving pollution problems... problems that cost <br />the nation an estimated $14 billion pier year in property damage, <br />and <br /> <br />
