. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 68 - 3 PAGE 3 <br />, xvi. All plumbing fixtures shall be so installed <br />with regard to spacing as to be reasonably accessible <br />for their intended use. <br />xvii. Plumbing shal l be installed with due regard <br />to preservation of the strength of structural members <br />and prevention of damage to walls and other surfaces <br />through fixture usage. <br />xviii. Sewage, or other waste from a plumbing <br />system, which may be deleterious to surface or sub- <br />surface waters shall not be discharged into the ground <br />or into any waterway unless it has first been rendered in- <br />nocuous through subjection to some acceptable form of <br />treatment. <br />xix. The plumbing system shall be subjected to <br />such tests as will effectively disclose all leaks and <br />defects in the work. <br />xx. All storm drainage shall be connected into a <br />storm sewer and not into a sanitary sewer. " <br />be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />1689.03 Basic Principles and Performance Standards <br />for Plumbinq <br />In the interpretation of the requirements of Chapter <br />93 of the RDH Code and of this Chapter 89, or in <br />the design, instci llation or use of plumbing fixtures <br />and equipment not specifically covered by this Code, <br />the following basic principles and performance <br />standards shall govern: <br />i. A11 premises intended for human habitation, <br />occupancy, or use shall be provided with a supply <br />of potable water, neither oonnected with unsafe <br />water supplies not subject to the hazards of back- <br />flow, back-siphonage or cross connections. <br />ii. Plumbing shall be designed and adjusted to <br />use the minimum quantity of water consistent with <br />proper performance and cleaning. <br />iii. Deviees for heating and storing water shall <br />be so designed and installed as to prevent dangers <br />from explosion or collapse through overheating or <br />s iphoning . <br />iv. Every building wherein plumbing fixtures are <br />installed and intended for human habitation, occupancy <br />or use on premises abutting on a street, alley or ease- <br />ment in or for which there is a public sewer, shall have <br />a connection with the sewer. <br />v. Plumbing fixtures shall be made of smooth <br />nonabsorbent material and shall be free from concealed <br />fouling surfaces.
